Sales Tax School I

IPT’s Sales Tax School I: Introduction to Sales & Use Taxes is a five-day program that provides a beginner-level and thorough education in the theory and management of sales & use taxation. With general and breakout sessions throughout the school, participants receive a comprehensive education in essential sales & use tax principles, including tax research, accounting, auditing, and other practical skills needed on the job. In addition, the workshops are focused on specific matters discussed in the general sessions, whereby instructors lead robust and participative discussions.

All of the school’s sessions are led by a diverse faculty who come from the corporate, consulting, legal, and academic sectors and are backed by decades of real-world experience. Successful completion of the course is required for any School I attendee wanting to take the advanced school.

Sales Tax School II

Sales Tax School II offers attendees an advanced and comprehensive education of sales & use taxation and how to apply presented concepts to real-world situations. Topics covered at the school include constitutional law; computer software & services; telecommunications; leasing; audit management; taxpayer remedies; statistical and block sampling; mergers & acquisitions and retail. The school examines the impact of sales & use tax on specific industries, products, and services, and provides guidance on managing the sales & use tax function for optimal results.

School attendees receive general session training and then work together in breakout and workshop sessions to discuss the presented concepts and how to apply to various sales & use tax scenarios. Annual Conference Sales & Use Track

IPT's Annual Conference is the year's most robust and comprehensive educational program in state and local tax (SALT). It not only offers a full complement of sales & use tax sessions, but also the opportunity to learn about other current SALT issues by attending concurrent sessions in a related discipline – Property Tax, State Income Tax, or Credits and Incentives. This two and a half-day conference features top-notch educational sessions, which are presented by experienced and known tax professionals from across the country.

ABA/IPT Advanced Sales Tax Seminar

The American Bar Association - Tax Section and the Institute for Professionals in Taxation's Advanced Sales Tax Seminar is one of the most prominent educational programs offered in the field of sales and use tax law. This two-day seminar provides all sales & use tax professionals with the most current updates on judicial, legislative, and other legal-related issues facing the industry.

This program is intended for sales & use tax practitioners, including attorneys, consultants, tax directors and managers, and other professionals practicing in the sales & use tax field. The seminar sessions feature known and experienced presenters from both the public and private sectors, resulting in presentations that are informative, well-rounded, and diverse.
