State Income Tax Positions Available
Tax Manager ASC 740 (San Antonio, Texas) - Responsible for managing the tax accounting and financial reporting processes related to income taxes. This role involves ensuring compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for income taxes and overseeing the preparation of related tax returns and disclosures for various reporting entities. This role will also assist with the review of income tax provision calculations for Mexico operations.
Core Responsibilities - Income Tax Provision: Leading the preparation and review of quarterly and annual income tax provisions (calculations of current and deferred taxes) in accordance with ASC 740. Financial Modeling Support: Work closely with the Finance and Accounting teams to forecast income tax impacts into budgets and models, including potential projects or acquisitions. Financial Reporting & Disclosures: Preparing and reviewing income tax disclosures, footnotes, and supporting analyses for financial statements (e.g., 10-K, etc.). Tax Compliance: Assisting with the preparation and review of complex U.S. federal and state C-Corporation income tax returns and other tax filings. Technical Research & Analysis: Researching and analyzing complex tax issues, legislative changes, and new accounting standards to assess their impact on the company's tax positions and reporting. Uncertain Tax Positions: Managing and analyzing uncertain tax positions (UTPs), including calculating and documenting appropriate tax reserve levels in compliance with ASC 740 and FIN 48. Audits & Controversy: Supporting external financial statement auditors during their review of the tax provision and assisting with federal, state, and local tax authority audits and inquiries. Process Improvement: Identifying and implementing process improvements and automation solutions for tax reporting, compliance, and provision processes, often involving specialized tax software.
Key Skills and Qualifications - Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required; a Master's degree in Taxation or Accountancy is preferred. Certifications: An active CPA license preferred. Experience: 7+ years of progressive corporate tax experience in public accounting or industry, with demonstrated expertise in ASC 740. Familiarity with Up-C structures is extremely beneficial. Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ASC 740 principles (including deferred taxes, effective tax rate calculations, and valuation allowances), and federal/state tax laws.
