As everyone has experienced over the past year, the pandemic has created challenges and opportunities, both in our professional and personal lives. The same can be said of IPT and its educational offerings. While live programs were halted and replaced with virtual offerings, planning still continued for meeting again in person. To this end, we fully anticipated having our first in-person, live program in San Diego, CA for the Annual Conference in June. However, after careful and deliberate discussions with the host property, it was determined the timing and location would not afford us to have a properly-sized program. As such, this event has been changed to July 28 - 30, 2021 in Austin, TX. 
 
While we are disappointed IPT’s Annual Conference will not be held at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront this year, we are pleased to report the Annual Conference will return there in June 2024. We thank the Hilton representatives for working with IPT through this arduous process and allowing a mutual conclusion to transpire.
 
In the pursuit of still having the first in-person, live program in nearly 18 months, IPT has secured the Austin Marriott Downtown for a modified conference in July. The Annual Conference Committee has been diligently planning a program that will meet the educational needs and demands for this revised conference. Details will be forthcoming, but at this time the program will commence Wednesday afternoon, July 28, 2021 and conclude at noon on Friday, July 30, 2021. You can expect the same high level of state and local taxation content that has made IPT the leader in tax education for nearly 45 years.
 
The CMI/CCIP testing opportunities will also be offered during the conference timeframe, but will be held after the final session. The written exams will be held Friday afternoon, July 30, 2021 and the oral exams on Saturday morning, July 31, 2021. Please refer to the IPT website for updates regarding details and deadlines.  
 
In an effort to make the conference financially feasible for members, the Board has approved a reduced registration fee for the conference of $349.00 for members and $699.00 for eligible nonmembers. In addition, IPT has obtained an extraordinary guest room rate at the Austin Marriott Downtown of $149.00 per night, plus applicable taxes and fees. This new property just recently opened in March and offers spacious meeting rooms that will accommodate proper social distancing. IPT is obligated to abide by Marriott’s guidance on facemasks, social distancing, etc., as well as any state/local mandates in providing the safest meeting experience required. These standards will be provided on IPT’s website and updated as provided by Marriott.
 
The Annual Meeting of Members, as required by IPT’s by-laws, is Friday morning, July 30, 2021. The newly nominated Officer and Board members will be elected, and any by-law changes proposed by the Board of Governors will be subject to membership approval. Although at this time it is not yet determined if any part of the conference will be available online, the Annual Meeting of Members will be simulcast, pending available audio/visual capabilities.
