Data Team Analyst - Wage Type: 1099. Starting Hourly Rate: $15, with the potential for increase based on experience and performance. PTX Tech is a technology start-up founded in 2014 with the goal of simplifying the property tax process for businesses.  We gather property tax information from assessors and collectors across the county and aggregate it in our proprietary database, allowing us to deliver important tax information to our clients.  The starting point for all of our services is getting the data from the source – the government agencies that assess property and generate tax bills.  We do this through public records requests. We are currently looking for people to join our data team, which focuses on the public records requests.  The job is flexible in that you can work how much you want and when you want.   However, we would like a commitment of 25 or more hours per week if possible, due to our current needs.  Also, because the bulk of the work will be communicating with government agencies, you will likely need to work during normal business hours (which can be across several times zones).  However, there are some items you can do in the evening if you prefer to spread out your working time. The job involves the following functions: 1. Researching state property tax information a. When we decide to begin working in a new state, we need to contact every assessor and collector to learn about their property tax process & timeline. b. The requests for new states will essentially be blank, and you will call/email to get information about requesting the data. 2. Requesting data for established states. a. For states where we have worked previously, the request information will carry forward from the prior year, giving you a starting point. b. You will contact the agency to confirm request information and see when the data will be available for the current year. c. Data requests could involve calling, emailing, and creating a request letter to be mailed. 3. Tracking requests in our internal system. a. Request tracking is a very important part of our process, and we have an internal web-based system to track them.  There are various appeal deadlines and due dates in each state, and they can change from year to year and differ between counties.  We must keep the dates updated on the tasks so that both we and the clients are aware of when the data will be available. b. Meeting deadlines is essential since property tax appeals and bills are due by certain dates.   4. Dealing with government agencies. a. As mentioned above, the majority of your job will involve communicating with government agencies.  Many will be familiar with public records requests and give you the data without any issue.  Others may be wary of why you are requesting the data and push back on providing it.  Professional communication is a must. b. You will likely pick up the lingo for each state as you work through the tasks.  Each state calls their data something different, and knowing the correct terminology will help with the requests.  Send resume to Date Posted: 5/24/2019 (IPT2529)
